School Nurse Welcome Back Letter

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back to another great year here at Ennis Schools!  My name is Whitney Marsh. This is my second year as the Ennis School Nurse.  It’s an honor and a privilege to be here and provide care for your child when it is needed. My office is located within the Elementary office and my current office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM. You can reach me by phone: 682-4237, ext. 337, or by email: wmarsh@ennisschools.org.

MEDICATIONS:  It is school policy that students are not permitted to carry medications with them at school.  All medications are to be administered and stored by the school nurse or designated school staff.  An Over the Counter Medication slip has been sent home to give us parental consent to do so. If you want to allow your child to have OTC medication at school, please sign it and return to the office.

PRESCRIBED MEDICATIONS: If your child has a prescribed medication that needs to be administered at the school, please ask the office for the PHYSICIAN’S ORDER form.  It needs to be filled out and signed by you and your child’s physician. **Medication must be brought to school in the original container and the pharmacy label in place.

FOOD ALLERGIES/ANAPHYLAXIS/ASTHMA: If your child has food allergies that can lead to anaphylaxis or a form of asthma please fill out the forms that have been sent home.  If your child does not have either of these, you do not need to fill them out. **Children are allowed to carry an epipen or inhaler as a medical necessity. CLOTHING At times children have accidents, spills, or torn clothing and we try our best to provide a change of clothes when this occurs. Please be mindful to return any clothing provided for your child after laundering. If your child is prone to accidents please make sure you provide them with a complete change of clothing.

WHEN SHOULD MY CHILD STAY HOME FROM SCHOOL?  Please call with any questions you may have on when you should keep your child home due to sickness.  The Elementary School Handbook also has a copy of some sickness guidelines, located on the very last page as a reference.

I feel very blessed to be in this role at the school.  The biggest goal is to keep our students healthy and in school.

I plan to do my best at both! Don’t hesitate to contact me if you ever have any questions or concerns.  Thank you!
