Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful break with your families.  It’s hard to believe the holidays are over and we are back to school.  I just wanted to give a quick update on illnesses going around the community.

Influenza B, strep, the stomach bug, and the common cold are still within our school and throughout Madison County.

Remind students to use good handwashing to help prevent getting illness, as well as stopping the spread of the illness if they are currently ill. A good reminder for school attendance is to keep the student home until they are fever free (less than 100.5*), diarrhea free, and vomit free for at least 24 hours.  Also, if your student has been diagnosed with strep, influenza, or any other sickness; please take the proper precautions that the doctor has given to you before returning them to school.

It’s not too late to get your flu shot if that is something you would like to do.  The County Health Department and Madison Valley Medical Center still have them available for all ages (MVMC offers free flu shots to children 18 and under). If you ever have questions or concerns you can always reach out to me.  682-4237
