ENNIS HIGH SCHOOL LOCAL SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

SCHOLARSHIPS USING THE LOCAL UNIFORM APPLICATION (April 1st Due Date)

Students should complete a separate local uniform application for each of the scholarships below. Each application can be written to address the requirements of the specific scholarship. Scholarship applications using the common application are due in the counselor's office by Thursday, April 1, 2010 and must include a resume and one (1) letter of recommendation.

 

 

BARKER MATHEMATICS SCHOLARSHIP (of the Vogeli Foundation)  

Amount : $1000

  Eligibility :  This scholarship is intended to support college studies in mathematics, science, or engineering and is provided by the Barker Fund of the Vogeli Foundation.  Award is for one Ennis High School senior who excels in secondary school mathematics as evidenced by:

1.   Mathematics course grades

2.   Mathematics teacher recommendations and, if applicable…

3.   Participation and performance in mathematics contests and tests 

 

CORY SPROUT MEMORIAL  

Amount : Variable.

No restrictions .  Awarded to a graduating EHS student who has demonstrated a strong work ethic and good character.  GPA is not a consideration for this scholarship.  Funds are paid 1st semester.  An interview may be required with the family.

 

ENNIS RODEO ASSOCIATION

Previous Amount : $250

  Eligibility :  Open to all Ennis seniors. The Rodeo Association will select on recipient from the pool of applicants.  Funds will be paid out second semester upon receipt of a transcript with a 2.5 GPA or higher and proof of registration for second semester.

 

ENNIS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Amount:  One $500/year for 4 years for a four-year school 

  One $500/year for 2 years for a technical school

No restrictions.  One scholarship will be awarded to a student attending a 4-   year institution and one will be awarded to a student attending a 2-year trade or technical school.  An interview is required as part of the application process for the chamber of commerce scholarship.

   

FIRST MADISON VALLEY BANK

Previous Amount : $1000

Eligibility :  Any Ennis High School graduating senior (having maintained a 3.00 GPA) who intends to apply for enrollment as a commercial student in an accredited college, vo-tech, or business school.  The recipient will be named by the Ennis High School scholarship committee.  An alternate will be chosen and will be eligible to receive the scholarship if not used by the first recipient. 

The cash scholarship will be sent to the college for the benefit of the recipient when the registrar of the college he/she attends sends written notice to First Madison Valley Bank that the student has successfully and satisfactorily completed one semester or quarter of study.  Funds are made available for 2nd semester. He/she must have maintained a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be enrolled in the second quarter or semester.

 

JACK VUJOVICH MEMORIAL

Previous Amount: $250

No restrictions.  Selection will be based on these qualities in order of importance:

  1.  Student Athlete 2. Good citizen 3. Moral character 4.  Financial need

    

MARGIE AND JAMES ROBERTSON

Amount :  Variable (Usually $500 - $3000 for multiple students)

Eligibility :  The applicant must attend a university, college or school operating within the Montana University System or a trade school, vocational or technological school or business school operating under the control or license of the State of Montana or one or more of its political subdivisions.

 

The applicant must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scoring system.  The applicant will have distinguished himself or herself in high school and/or community activities, or demonstrated a special aptitude or skill; or will have overcome adversity,   disability or adverse economic conditions, or will have risen above expectations of his or her physical or mental capabilities, environment or social situation.

The scholarship and financial aid will be for one (1) academic year.  The scholarship and financial aid can be renewed for up to three (3) additional academic years upon annual reapplication of the student to the committee.  In order to be eligible in the sophomore, junior, or senior year of college, the student must apply when they are a senior at Ennis High School.  The committee will not renew the application of any recipient who does not maintain at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA or equivalent average based upon a 4.0 grade point scoring system or equivalent system.

The scholarship funds and financial aid will be paid to the student upon presentation of adequate evidence of payment for educational expenses and upon proof that the student has maintained at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA or equivalent based upon a 4.0 grade point scoring or equivalent system.  APPLY FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP EVEN IF YOU DON'T THINK YOU WILL BE ATTENDING AN IN-STATE SCHOOL!

 

 

MOEN SCHOLARSHIP

Amount:  $1000 Total (possibly split)

Eligibility :  Roy and Marlene Moen are offering a total of $1000 in scholarships to graduating seniors of Ennis High School.  This scholarship may or may not be split depending on the applicants.  This scholarship may be used in-state or out-of-state.  Award is made during the second semester of attendance.  The criteria are:

1.   Financial need

2.   Little additional financial help

3.   Motivation and hard work

 

 

MONTANA MASONIC LODGE #2 OF ENNIS

Amount :  $500

Eligibility : The Montana Masonic Lodge #2 of Ennis is offering one scholarship which is intended for a graduating EHS senior who has excellent moral character, is highly motivated, and has participated in community service.  Financial need is also considered in the selection process.  This scholarship may be used for in-state or out-of-state colleges or vocational/technical schools.  Funds will be disbursed to the student's college at the end of the first semester of study.  Students must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA.

    

RIO TINTO

Amount : Two $500 Scholarships

Eligibility : Based equally on student merit and financial need.  This scholarship may be used for colleges or vocational education including in-state and out-of-state schools.  A check for $500 will be mailed to the school of choice at the end of September (during 1st semester) unless otherwise notified.  Luzenac America would also like to write a press release with a brief biography of the students and submit it with a photo of each student to the local newspaper as soon as the scholarships are announced.

 

ROSE MeGee MEMORIAL

Amount :  Variable (Previously $800-$1100)

Eligibility : Awarded to one Ennis High School graduating senior each year.  The scholarship is based on character, grades, and leadership.  Designated as an academic scholarship to be given annually to a deserving graduate for use at a Montana institution of higher education.  The scholarship will be paid out 2nd semester.

  

 

 

VALLEY BANK

Amount: $250

No restrictions .  Funds are paid 1st semester.  Student must contact Donna Crumley at Valley Bank with enrollment information in order to receive scholarship award. 

 

 

EARL HOLT MEMORIAL

Amount :  (2) $500 Scholarships (1 male / 1 female)

Eligibility : Awarded to one EHS graduating male and female each year.  The scholarship is based on participation in athletics and character.  The committee will also consider need. Scholarship can be used at any 2-year or 4-year institution.  The scholarship will be paid out 2nd semester upon receipt of 1st semester grades and proof of 2nd semester enrollment.  Send this information to Earl Holt Memorial Scholarship, Ennis High School, Box 517, Ennis, MT 59729. 

 

JOHN SEAMAN MEMORIAL

Amount :  $1000

John Seaman was an active teacher for many years and retired in Ennis.  He was active with the youth of Ennis and loved the outdoors and especially fishing and guiding on the Madison River.

 This scholarship is open to all seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or above.  The scholarship is open to all majors at either a 2-year or 4-year school.  Final applicants may be asked to participate in an interview. Payment will be made after student submits proof of enrollment at the university.  Enrollment information can be sent to Seaman Scholarship, Ennis High School, Box 517, Ennis, MT 59729.

MADISON VALLEY RANCHLANDS - WEED COMMITTEE SCHOLARSHIP - Send Directly to Organization, do not turn in to EHS.

Amount : $500  Deadline:  April 1

  Eligibility : This scholarship is intended for a Madison Valley student who plans to pursue a degree in agriculture or environmental sciences; not limited to but including biology, botony, fisheries, forestry, and range science.  Students from both Ennis and Harrison schools may apply.  One scholarship will be awarded.  There is not a minimum GPA requirement for this scholarship. The scholarship funds will be paid directly to the student upon receipt of proof of college enrollment. Send the local uniform application materials to:  Melissa Griffis, MVRG Weed Coordinator, P.O. JACK CREEK PRESERVE FOUNDATION

Amount:  $2500 with possibility of additional $1000/year

Eligibility :  This scholarship is intended for students pursuing a career in Biological Sciences or Conservation.  Applications include a cover sheet and questions which follow a specific format.  See application for instructions.  Applications must be postmarked on or before April 1, 2010 to: Double F Foundation, PO Box 3, Ennis, MT 59729.

 

 

MONTANA ASSOCIATION OF CLERK AND RECORDERS (Due March 15, 2010)

Amount:  $1,000  

Eligibility:  Students must complete the application form handed out to all seniors or that is listed on the Madison County Website: Madison.mt.gov.  The scholarship is for students whose anticipated major is Business Administration, Political Science, Secretarial, or Government related studies.  Return completed application to Madison County Clerk and Recorder, P.O. Box 366 Virginia City, MT 59755. 

    

  ENNIS BOOSTER CLUB   (Due April 15, 2010)

Amount :  Four (4) $500 Scholarships

Eligibility :  These scholarships will be awarded to senior students of EHS who have demonstrated the principles of participation and involvement during their experiences at EHS as well as incorporating them into their future higher education plans.  Separate application and interview applies.

    

DIANE PETRONI MEMORIAL  (Due April 1, 2010)

Amount: $500

Eligibility : Must enroll in an accredited four-year college, university or technical school.  In addition to local uniform application, applicant must complete an essay describing their involvement in scouting and what it has meant to them.

 

First priority will be given to boys or girls who have been involved in Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, or Explorer.  The scholarship will be awarded by rank achieved in the order listed below:

Boy Scouts: 1.  Eagle Scout  - earned palms or merit badges may be considered  to break a tie.   2.   Life Rank  3.   Star Rank 4.   First Class 5.   Tenderfoot

Varsity or Explorers :  Will be selected by the length of time the applicant has been involved in the scouting program, and their involvement in the community.

Second priority will be given to any applicant who does not meet the requirements in priority 1 above and only if there are no applicants meeting the criteria above.  The applicant must complete an essay that describes how they have demonstrated leadership while in High School and how they intend to apply their leadership abilities in the future.

 

The Ennis scouting committee will select the scholarship recipient based on the above criteria.  The scholarship will be awarded to the selected applicant during the second quarter or semester of their freshman year.  The scholarship recipient must submit a copy of their transcript and verification of enrollment in the second quarter or semester.  The Petroni family may elect to extend this scholarship beyond the year 2012, at their discretion.  Submit your essay to Wes Orr, P.O. MADISON VALLEY CATTLEWOMEN (Due April 1, 2010)

  Amount : $500

  Eligibility : This scholarship is handled completely outside of the school.  If you are interested in applying for this scholarship, send a letter with your GPA, rank in class, college plans, and a summary of your high school career.  Although grades are an indication of an interested student, our primary goal is to help a student who holds the basic ideals of our group, which is dedicated to promoting agriculture in general and beef in particular.  SEND LETTER OF APPLICATION AND RESUME DIRECTLY TO: Janet Endecott, Box 104, McAllister, MT 59740 by April 1.  DO NOT turn anything into the counselor's office.  

    

 

ENNIS ARTS ASSOCIATION TUITION SCHOLARSHIPS (Due May 1, 2010)

 

Amount : $400 and $300

Eligibility:  These scholarships are awarded annually to college or vocational technical school students who plan on enrolling or who are currently enrolled in an arts curriculum.  Scholarships are available to individuals living (or have lived) within the boundaries of the Ennis/Harrison School Districts or to those who have graduated from high school (or its equivalent) in those districts.  For applications contact the guidance office at EHS or Shirley Love at 682-5780.  Please return applications to:  Ennis Arts Association Scholarship Chairman, P.O. ENNIS ARTS ASSOCIATION WORKSHOP SCHOLARSHIPS (Before Activity)

 

Amount 1/2 the cost of a workshop up to $100 or a total of $150 annually.  

Eligibility :   These scholarships are available at any time during the year to youth and adults on a first come,  first served basis.  Individuals must live in the Ennis-Harrison school district boundaries. Return applications to the scholarship committee address above.     

ENNIS LIONS CLUB TRADITIONAL SCHOLARSHIP (Due April 1, 2010)  

Amount   :  Four Scholarships Available

(1)  4 Year Traditional Scholarship ($2,200 Scholarship spread out over 4 years)    

(2)  2 Year Traditional Scholarship ($1,100 Schoalrship spread out over 2 years)  

(3)  1 Year Legacy Scholarship $600 (for outstanding service)  

(4)  1 Year Vocational School Scholarship $600 upon completion of 1st semester  

Eligibility :  The traditional scholarships are based on overall scholastic achievements, accomplishments, and participation throughout  high school.  The Legacy scholarship is a service oriented scholarship.  Payments will be made to the college and the student  after first semester.  Scholarships are for students attending college or vo-tech schools that are in-state or out-of-state. 

 

The Lions Club members will place a Lions Club Scholarship Application  in the hands of every senior in a senior class.  The Lions representative will also explain the application procedures to the  seniors.  All scholarships must be started within one year after being awarded.

MADISON MEADOWS LADIES GOLF ASSOCIATION (Due April 1, 2010)

Amount : $250

 

  Eligibility : Current Senior who is interested in attending college or university in either the fall 2008 or spring 2009 semester.  Applicant can attend either in-state or out-of-state schools.  Preference is given toward students who are golfers but it is not a requirement.  Interested students must write a letter of application and mail it to the following address by April 1:  MMLGA Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 522, Ennis, MT 59729.

 

     

MADISON VALLEY WOMAN'S CLUB (Due April 1, 2010)

  Amount : Four (4) $1000 Scholarships

 

  Eligibility : This scholarship is handled COMPLETELY outside of the school.  Four  scholarships will be divided between students attending traditional 4-year schools and those who will attend a vocational-technical school, a trade school, or a community college.  A student who applies for this technical scholarship does not compete with the students who are applying for the traditional scholarship.

 

  Applications will be available at the high school counseling office and the Nearly New Store.  For more information call Nancy Dombrock, scholarship chairperson at 682-4869.  Send the completed application to Women's Club, P.O. ENNIS TRUE VALUE - TOOLS FOR TOMORROW (Due May 1, 2010)

Amount : Previously $4,225 (minimum of $1,000)

 Eligibility :  The Tools For Tomorrow Scholarship Program recognizes students from Ennis High School who have excelled in the vocational-technical curriculum.  Tools For Tomorrow scholarships will be awarded to outstanding students who are pursuing vocational-technical education after high school.  Students must be currently enrolled in at least one vocational course at EHS.  See Mr. Lingle or Wayne Black for scholarship application.
