Graduation Expectations - High School Gym
We will conduct a “traditional” graduation ceremony on May 24, 2020 at 2:00pm in the high school gym with the following accommodations to meet social distancing guidelines. The guidelines below are supported by the Madison County Health Department and through information provided by the CDC.
The school is highly recommending that all graduation attendees, including graduates, wear face masks while inside the school building. The school will provide face masks upon entering the lobby.
The Madison County Health Department also recommends that the following people not attend graduation: the immunocompromised, people at risk, and children under two years old.
Graduates will line up in the high school hallway for the procession at 1:30pm maintaining social distancing guidelines. The line will begin from the lobby and continue into the high school hallway, wrapping around the library, with six feet between each senior.
Seniors will enter the gym at 2:00pm and proceed to their chairs at the front of the gym, maintaining 6 feet of distance between them and attendees at all times.
Each graduate will be allowed 4 guests to attend the ceremony with the following procedures:
Per government orders, families traveling from out of state must have been in Montana by May 9 to have completed their 14 day quarantine or they will not be granted admittance into the ceremony. This information was provided to the senior families on April 28 via email.
Each guest must have their name on the list before entering the gym.
Families will be assigned seats together, yet meeting social distancing guidelines from other families. Special accommodations will be given, upon request, to families with disabilities.
Families will be given the order of arrival to the gym and will utilize staging areas on the sidewalk that maintain social distancing while expediting the process of entering the gym. This order with arrival times will be sent out at a later time. Families will be escorted into the gym to their assigned seats.
During the final procession, each graduate will be released one at a time, meet their family either in the middle aisle or back aisle depending on where the family is sitting, and exit the gym through the south doors. Upon leaving the building, the students and families are asked to go to their cars as quickly as possible to minimize contact.
Booster Club is organizing a parade in the parking lot for after graduation. They will be sending information out soon.
The school is not permitting any gathering of non-family members on school property.
Students will be able to receive their diplomas through contactless pickup.
Students are asked to not throw their caps into the air. If they do, they must leave them and pick them up at the school later in the week.
Photos will be taken by a school photographer of students entering the gym and picking up their diploma. Photos will also be taken of each speaker and the graduating class. These photos will be available to families at no charge via a flash drive provided by the school. A video of the ceremony will also be included. Families are also invited to take photos from their assigned seats.
Bathrooms will be available for emergency use only.
