December 10, 2020

Dear Ennis High School Families,

On Wednesday evening, December 9, 2020, the Ennis School District was notified by the Madison County Health Department that an additional Ennis High School student tested positive for COVID-19.  This positive test was confirmed on December 9, 2020.

This specific positive case was determined to be unrelated to the positive test communicated to families on Tuesday. Fortunately, through a collaborative and thorough contact tracing investigation conducted by school officials and the Madison County Health Department, affected students have been identified and are currently being contacted by the Madison County Health Department.

School will resume to in-person instruction for grades 9-12 on Friday, December 11th for students not identified as a close contact. If you have not received notification from the Madison County Health Department, then school will be business as usual on Friday, including high school activities.  Students identified as a close contact will remain in remote learning and are expected to attend every class virtually until released to in-person instruction. Teachers will provide additional information and expectations as needed.

Our custodial and maintenance staff have worked hard to ensure that school facilities are prepared for a safe return to school through thorough cleaning and disinfecting procedures.

Please note that we will strictly adhere to privacy laws during a health pandemic outbreak and will not disclose identifiable information of those who have been affected. We recommend that any person who feels sick should stay home and  seek out their medical provider for specific instructions.

We remind families to be patient and understanding during this challenging time.  Our priority is to keep our school doors open and need your cooperation in helping make that happen. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school.

Sincerely,

Casey Klasna

Ennis Schools Superintendent
