Dear Ennis Mustang Families and Ennis Community,

HAPPY FRIDAY!  We hope that everyone is doing well and geared up for a great weekend.  A huge shout out to our Speech, Drama, and Debate team for bringing home 1st place at the Southern C Divisional meet last weekend!  We are super proud of their accomplishments. This weekend they will be competing at the state meet in Huntley.  GO MUSTANGS!

Another huge shoutout to our grades 6-12 band members for playing pep band music at the home games.  The compliments we have received have been outstanding.  We have very talented musicians and it has been so rewarding to see the music program grow at Ennis Schools.

The mail ballots for the school bond election were mailed out on January 19th.  The election date is February 8th.  If you have any questions, please contact the school.

We hosted a facility open house Saturday, January 22nd.  Although we would have liked a larger turnout, we feel that the folks that did attend benefited from looking at the current facility and asked really great questions.  There are video tours on the school website for you to view if you would like to gain a better understanding of the entire school facility.

As stated in previous newsletters, we continue to see positive covid cases in our state, community, and school. This week we saw a slight decrease in positive cases reported to the school. If you are testing at home and there is a positive test, please communicate the results to the school nurse so we can plan accordingly and send out exposure notices.  We want to make sure that we are doing all we can to keep sick students and staff out of school.  This week the cases are STAFF-0, HS-2, JH-2, ELEM-0.

Sorry to sound like a broken record, but I encourage folks to inquire if they are interested in driving a school bus.  Schedule an appointment with us and we will show you our buses, let you sit behind the wheel, and maybe even have you drive one on our bus barn property.  We are short handed and we will continue to be extremely short handed next year.  We will be as flexible and creative as possible with the routes/shifts to accommodate busy schedules.

The annual school Science Fair is coming up and we are excited to see our student projects.  We are so fortunate to be in such a supportive community where education is greatly valued.  Our students are very lucky to say the least!  Science Fair setup is 2-4pm this Sunday and the Science Fair awards are Monday at 7pm.

In closing, thanks for everything!  Time is flying and we are having a blast here at school.  Enjoy your weekend! GO MUSTANGS!!!

Sincerely,

Casey Klasna - Supt.
