Spring Immunizatin Clinic

Dear Ennis Families,

We are planning to do a Spring Immunization Clinic here at the school on April 25th, during school hours. This will be led by Public Health, but we wanted to give you more information prior to this event.

Public Health will offer the following vaccines:

-Tdap: for ages 11-12. This is a booster that is required before entering 7th Grade.

-Meningococcal: There are two different types of vaccines for this.  All 11 to 12 year olds are eligible to get a MenACWY (Meningococcal conjugate) vaccine, with a booster dose at 16 years old. Teens and young adults (16 through 23 years old) may also get a MenB (Serogroup B meningococcal) vaccine. These are not required for school attendance, but they may require them if attending college.

-HPV: for ages 9-26. If you begin this series it is two vaccinations.  You can get the second dose 6-12 months after the first.  You will be given a timeline of when to get the booster. This is not required to attend school.

-If your child is on a “catch-up schedule” for vaccinations I’d be glad to visit with you and discuss whether or not we are able to do them with Public Health on this day.

Public Health also has the Typhoid vaccine and Hepatitis A if anyone is traveling abroad and has interest in immunizing your child with them.Typhoid is one vaccination that is good for two years prior to needing another dose.  Hepatitis A is two vaccines that can be given 6-12 months after the first dose. These are not required for school attendance.

Madison Valley Medical Center also offers these vaccinations (except for Typhoid), if you wish to make an appointment with them or do the booster vaccines here in town you can call the clinic to schedule 406.682.4223.  These can also be scheduled at the new Public Health Office in Sheridan, MT by calling 406.204.0712.

We do encourage you to have well-child exams done by your primary doctor to assess the overall health of your child(ren).  Well-child exams are typically covered under preventative insurance, and most clinics take Medicaid.

If you are interested in having your student partake in this Spring Immunization Clinic please contact me by phone or email so we can plan accordingly with what vaccinations your student(s) is needing. If I am away from my desk please leave a message with who you are along with who your student is, and I will get back to you as soon as I am able. Attached to this email is the consent form that needs to be completed for Public Health to be able to vaccinate your student.  If you are confident in what your child needs you are welcome to fill it out and return it to me through the HS or Elementary Offices. When filling this out please provide a copy of your insurance card or fill out the insurance information as requested on the form. Please return to the School Nurse by Apr 17, 2025. Thank you!
