A group of eleven 8th graders and five adults went on an excursion into Yellowstone National Park in May. This was part of the Yellowstone Expedition program that offers educational field trips for groups of 5th-8th graders from all over the United States. We traveled to Mammoth, WY for a 4 day, 3 night field trip. While on this trip the students were assigned two park rangers who taught them about the ecology and the geology of Yellowstone while enjoying many hours and miles outdoors. The students put in long days that consisted of lessons, hikes, meal preparation, driving to different locations in the park, etc. On the last night, we had a bonfire where the students and adults were able to share the parts of the experience they liked the most. This was a fun and educational trip that we all enjoyed.
