Dear Ennis Mustang Families and Ennis Community,

Happy Friday!  It was a short week this week at school, but jam packed to say the least.  We are currently underway with the district basketball tournament in Butte. Yesterday, our girls beat Gardiner and will play Manhattan Christian at 3pm today in semifinal action.  Our boys team lost to a tough West Yellowstone squad yesterday and will play White Sulfur Springs at 1:30pm today in loser out action.  If you can find time to cheer on the Mustangs, please do. These games should also be streamed on the NFHS network.

This week marks the second week in a row of no positive covid cases at the school.  I am glad to report that out!  However, we hope that folks continue their vigilance and assistance in keeping sickness out of our school.

There was a school board meeting this week on Tuesday, February 15.  The bond election was made official at the meeting.  We discussed our ANB (Average Number Belonging) student

count, which we are up approximately 25 students from last year.  The ANB count is what drives our general fund budget. A few other topics included the resignation of our HS Math teacher, which is effective after the school year is over.  We are currently advertising this position and are hopeful that we will get it filled.  There was a discussion started about the possibility of an early kindergarten program at Ennis Schools, but just a discussion at this point in time.  If this was a program to be considered in the future, we would need to address the lack of educational space to allow this.  There were other agenda items discussed as well, so please contact the school if you have any questions.

Thursday morning we met as a bond committee and discussed what the next steps of the project should be at this point.  It was decided to get a survey mailed out to the taxpayers to gather information as to why the vote was unfavorable.  You should be getting that in the mail sometime next week, so please fill it out.  You will have the option of filling it out and mailing it back or filling it out online.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school.

That is all for now.  I hope you have an awesome day and an enjoyable weekend!  Just a reminder, no school on Monday!

Sincerely,

Casey Klasna
